GSL building schools for the future
07-02-2008
GSL is delighted to announce the signing of the 25-year Leicester City Council Building Schools for the Future (BSF) contract. The GSL Miller consortium was selected as preferred bidder in 2006 and since that time has been working closely with Leicester City Council to reach an agreement and financial close to initially provide four new/refurbished secondary schools. The schools are due to be completed during 2009 and three further phases of four schools in each tranche delivered by 2012. A total of sixteen new/refurbished schools are planned.
Chris Elliott group managing director of GSL Integrated Services said: “This is an exciting project and one which will positively change the education provision within Leicester as these purpose built/refurbished secondary schools will each take 1000 pupils and are modern and well equipped for 21st century learning environments.
“The Government is committed to replace 4500 secondary schools across England and Wales in the coming years and the education of young people in Leicester will be amongst the first to benefit.
“GSL will provide hard and soft facilities management and life cycle services to each of the four new/refurbished schools and the three subsequent phases throughout the 25-year term as well as equity in the consortium through its investment partnership with Land Securities Trillium”.
