Being a Prisoner Escort Officer (PEO) isn't just about keeping people behind bars or driving them from A to B in secure vehicles. It's also about being vigilant, versatile, disciplined and treating people with respect and consideration.
GSL Inter Prison Transfers transports over 90,000 prisoners a year between prisons nationwide including the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. We're looking for confident people from a broad range of backgrounds who are able to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations. As part of our team you'll face many challenges so you'll need to be constantly aware, able to think on your feet and use your initiative.
Maintaining security, conducting searches, dealing with people and their property and completing documentation are just a few of the things you'll do in this busy role. Responsible for maintaining the secure custody and welfare of prisoners during transportation between prisons, your quick thinking will enable you to deal effectively with sometimes challenging behaviour in a calm, professional and non-judgmental manner. A full UK driving licence is also required.
