North Wiltshire schools

September 2001 was an important day for the children of Abbeyfield School, Chippenham as they were the first to benefit from a private finance initiative. This school was the first of the 3 schools to be provided at Wiltshire by the White Horse Education Partnership to the Wiltshire Education Authority in Chippenham, Malmesbury and Wootton Bassett.

Students at these schools are required to follow the traditional values of good behaviour and show respect towards teachers and fellow pupils combining old and new together to form part of a complete programme to get these children educated and ready for life.

This completion on a phased basis was from late 2001 through to the first half of 2002. The design of the buildings represents the latest thinking in efficient school design which has been achieved through close consultation with the Local Education Authority, headteachers and governors and the aim is to work in partnership with head teachers and their staff to develop the best educational environment possible.

GSL’s involvement

A dedicated facilities management (FM) team is established on site promoting friendly, flexible and responsive management of support services.

A comprehensive building and grounds maintenance regime provides first-line maintenance checks and daily operation from on-site school services technicians and our management ensures that sports facilities at each school are maintained commensurate with curricular requirements whilst preserving the aesthetic quality of the external grounds.

The on-site team is supported by central support specialists in areas including professional and technical disciplines, human resources, health and safety, industrial relations, public relations, quality assurance, communications, business systems/IT, procurement and training.

Our catering service is provided through a contract dedicated to the schools, and benefits from the latest developments in food preparation and presentation. Pupils, staff and visitors enjoy a friendly, high-quality service.
