Healthcare
Healthcare
A common denominator of many GSL projects is looking after the welfare of people in its care. GSL believes that through its wide and diverse experience it can significantly raise standards in hospitals and healthcare-related services. We are therefore responding to a number of initiatives being put forward by the government which wants to introduce the private sector into areas that were not open before. We believe that our cleaning services at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford are a contributory factor in the Trust’s excellent low MRSA infection rate.
Our existing experience in the healthcare market is broader than our hospital PFI success, and includes:
- provision and maintenance of local health premises for Primary Care Trusts under LIFT schemes
- provision of non-emergency patient transport services
- the management of clinical services provision within our custodial contracts with the Home Office, including prisons, secure training centres and immigration detention and removal centres.
We are proud of the level of care we are able to provide a pride that is reinforced by independent audits of our facilities by health and social care bodies.
Case Study: Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre
Rainsbrook cares for up to 76 boys and girls aged between 12 and 17 years who are either on remand or who are subject to a Detention and Training Order which determine a period of detention of up to 12 months. The emphasis of the regime is based on principles of education, care and rehabilitation.
The Social Services Inspectorate report published in July 2005 found an 'impressive establishment' with a:
... well established health care service.
... comprehensive range of primary medical health care services.
... commendable developments in the assessment and treatment of trainees with substance misuse problems.
... that continued to put children at the centre of its thinking and planning.
... Embedded robust quality assurance and management auditing systems and procedures.
