Brent. Harrow and Hillingdon LIFT
Brent, Harrow and Hillingdon
This project is part of the third wave of LIFT projects and key organisations involved on the client side include the three local PCTs, Brent and Harrow local councils, the Central and North West London Mental Health Trust and the Hillingdon and the North West London Hospitals NHS Trusts. http://www.bhhlift.com.
The initial phase of the project includes five schemes, three in Harrow and two in Brent.
Financial Close was reached on the first scheme (Monks Park) in December 2004 and construction began in spring 2005. Construction work is also now underway on the Alexandra Avenue site and both the Sudbury and Kingsbury sites have been cleared.
Schemes
We have included some information on a selection of the schemes from the first phase of the project.
Monks Park Primary Care Centre

This scheme for a primary care centre in Wembley is a 3-storey facility includes space for:
- GPs
- family planning services
- district nursing
- health visitors
- physiotherapy
- speech and language therapy
In addition to participating in the design and construction process GSL will operate the following support services via a single point of contact help desk service:
- planned preventative maintenance
- reactive maintenance
- energy and utility management
- minor works
- asset management
- lifecycle
Alexandra Avenue Primary Care Centre
The main focus of this 4-storey scheme in South Harrow will be children’s services including:
- speech and language services
- health and social problems services
- child and adolescent mental health services
- midwifery and health visiting
- paediatric therapies including audiology
- children’s disability services
- family centre
- parent partnership
The centre provides GP services including facilities for the GPs to perform minor operations. Other services will include:
- speech and language therapies
- physiotherapy
- phlebotomy
- health visitors
- dietetics
- dentistry
- podiatry
GSL’s involvement in developing and operating the scheme is similar to that for the Monks Park scheme.
Kingsbury Primary Care Centre

This scheme is due to open in 2007. The facility will include a café and education rooms in addition to services such as:
Diagnostic and treatment services including:
- phlebotomy
- optometry
- podiatry
- dentistry
- physiotherapy
- child health services
- family planning services
- health visitors
- district and specialist nurses
- social services office
- pharmacy
GSL’s involvement in developing and operating the scheme is similar to that for the Monks Park scheme.
Sudbury Primary Care Centre
The scheme which is due to open in 2007 has been designed to link to the Vale Farm Leisure Centre and it is envisaged that the PCC will work in partnership with the leisure centre to improve prevention of disease and rehabilitation of chronic conditions.
In addition to GP services the centre will offer access to:
- health visitors
- district nurses
- mental health services
- health shop
- pharmacy
