Wolverhampton and Walsall

The key client organisations involved in the Wolverhampton and Walsall LIFT scheme include Wolverhampton City PCT and Walsall Teaching PCT as well as the Wolverhampton City Council and the Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council.

 Schemes

Two of the schemes in the first phase of this project are well underway and several more are being developed to go forward as the project progresses.

GSL will operate the following support services via a single point of contact Help Desk service:

The Phoenix Primary Care Centre

In addition to GP services this centre will also provide:

The Gem Centre for Children and Adolescents

                    Seymour Harris Kepple

The Gem Centre is a children’s resource centre accommodating specialist community health services for children and adolescents.

Services offered by the centre include:

It functions as an assessment centre for children and also accommodates a specialist children’s social care team.

Heath Town PCC

This primary care centre will house up to seven GPs, a small community library, a social services office and healthcare facilities for the PCT. This scheme involves refurbishing a listed building and is due to start in autumn 2007.

Other schemes to go forward

Wolverhampton – The LIFT project will provide three more extended PCCs known locally as ‘hubs’ in West Park, Bilston and Low Hill providing access to GPs, services from acute hospitals and social care facilities. Three mental health resource centres are also planned in Bilston, Whitmore Reans and Low Hill.

Walsall – Another children’s resource centre similar to the Gem Centre is planned for this area as is a PCC in Field Street, Willenhall.
