Meter reading services
AccuRead is the UK’s largest multi-utility metering services company. We operate across the whole of the United Kingdom on behalf of gas, electricity and water companies.
Our main activity is data collection - recording and processing meter readings and associated consumer, property and meter asset information. Each year we visit over 50 million properties for meter readings including domestic, commercial and industrial premises throughout Great Britain.
AccuRead was originally formed in 1996 in a partnership with British Gas but is now wholly owned by GSL. The company is now involved in over 50 million reads of gas, electricity and liquid propane gas meters per annum.
AccuRead first moved into the electricity market in 2000, when competition in supply became a reality. We now process data collected from in excess of 6 million electricity metering systems throughout the UK, checking for accuracy and compiling the data for inclusion in the Industry Settlement Process on a daily basis. As AccuRead relies on computer systems to handle the massive amount of data recorded by readers on their portable handheld terminals, software developments are crucial to the company’s growth.

Workforce
With over 2,000 metering representatives located throughout Great Britain, we operate on a nationwide basis, and are able to undertake site visits to domestic, commercial and industrial premises wherever they are and within timescales as short as 4 hours from request.
