Customs and excise
HM Customs and Excise encourages key staff to sit the Chartered Institute of Taxation professional examinations.
GSL have been administering the process since 2001. The full qualification consists of three levels of examinations; we are responsible for distributing all relevant materials and examination papers for candidates.
For paper 1 we have designed and implemented an on-line examination process, which candidates sit by accessing a secure database through individual passwords. Paper 2 is a multiple-choice paper sat in examination conditions which we mark through the use of optical character recognition software. Paper 3 is a case study examination, marked by the Chartered Institute for which we are responsible for arranging exam venues and trained invigilators.
Given the importance of the process, the need for secure and accurate administrative processes is paramount.
GSL currently interface with over 500 candidates per annum.
