Catering
At HMP Rye Hill the catering is provided by ARAMARK LTD.
The catering department is required to provide meals 3 times daily for prisoners and lunch and hospitality in the staff restaurant from 7 days a week. The menu rotates on a four weekly basis and is ordered via a weekly pre-select system with the food then being delivered to the units by a hot trolley system.
Training opportunities
Safety and hygiene are of paramount importance when working with food. We ensure all prisoners receive a range of training opportunities. The Aramark staff provide prisoners with vigorous training which is refreshed on a regular basis. As a prisoner moves from one area to another he will receive the appropriate training some examples of training include:
- Safe food handling
- Equipment use
- Safe knife drill
- Reporting of defects
- Reporting sickness and accidents
- Fire procedures
- Control of substances hazardous to health regulations
- Menu planning
