Sports facilities
Our aim is to make a major contribution to the regimes of the prison by providing professional, purposeful and constructive physical education which will prepare prisoners for reintegration into the community and contribute towards developing the employability of prisoners upon release.
We provide opportunities for personal development and contribute towards developing employability of prisoners upon release through nationally accredited awards.The sports centre provides a modern facility enabling both prisoners and staff to raise their physical fitness through personal fitness plans, certificated courses and recreational activities.
Weights room
The weights room contains a number of:
- Fixed weight machines
- Olympic bars
- Free weights
- Smith machine
- Dumbbells up to 45 kg
- Variety of barbells and benches
Fitness centre
The fitness centre provides a modern facility enabling both prisoners and staff to raise their physical fitness levels through personal fitness programmes, remedial training and enjoyable recreational activities.
Facilities available include:
- Main sports hall
- Weights room
- Fitness eoom
- Remedial PE
Sports hall

Staff activities
Staff are encouraged to make use of the sports hall and numerous activities are laid on at lunch times for staff use including circuits, spinning and rackets.
Anyone wishing to use the sports centre must first complete the centre induction programme and be passed medically fit.
