Secure hospitals
The Thomas Embling Hospital in Australia is a 100-bed secure hospital primarily for patients from the criminal justice system who are in need of psychiatric assessment and/or care and treatment. It is operated by Forensicare the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health.Security at Thomas Embling is of major importance and is contracted to GSL which provides front-of-house, control room, security systems and perimeter security. Management of the contracted security services rests with the security manager a senior position within Forensicare who is also responsible for ensuring the integration of security and clinical services. All GSL officers working at Thomas Embling are carefully selected and receive specialised training prior to commencing employment there.
