FM management

GSL sees the management team as the integrators of the various services. We believe that the staff should operate as a single team, without the silo mentality often associated with FM services. Our managers are also responsible for engendering a feeling of service ownership within their teams, to aid their pride in performing the services well.

All levels of GSL FM management are involved in monitoring the performance of the services they deliver and they work with their teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Another aspect of their roles is the relationship with the customer. This relationship not only applies to the party with whom GSL is contracted, but also very much to the end users of the services. For example, we are interested in incorporating the viewpoints of Trust management, NHS staff and patients and visitors on our NHS contracts.

Managing transferred staff

TUPE transfers

Increasing numbers of contracts involve GSL operating with staff who transfer to us under the TUPE legislation. We are very experienced in dealing with the issues surrounding the transfer process and have been very successful in helping staff to adapt to their new employer.

Retention of employment contracts

GSL employs managerial staff not only for contracts where GSL staff undertake the FM services, but also contracts where the staff remain employed by our client.

This type of contract is increasingly found within the NHS PFI contracts and we have successfully financially closed the Churchill Hospital, Oxford contract under this scheme.
