Soft FM services

GSL can provide the full range of soft FM services. Customers for whom we provide these services are in sectors as diverse as healthcare, criminal justice, education and offices.

 

Services we provide

 

Helpdesks

GSL provides helpdesk services on several contracts, which act as 1-stop customer service desks to integrate the range of FM services provided. The software used by the helpdesk staff logs all the customer requests and the actions taken to fulfil the customers’ needs. The system then holds a full audit trail, which is used as the basis of the monthly performance information we provide for the customer on the FM services.

 

 

Cleaning services

Our cleaning services including reactive, scheduled and deep cleans. On our healthcare contracts, we also tend to provide a rapid response service to ensure our service meets the particular output specifications in this environment.

GSL cleaners are trained to high standards are supplied with sufficient good quality equipment to achieve and exceed the standards of cleanliness that our customers expect. We use environmentally friendly materials and cleaning systems wherever possible.

Our FM managers conduct regular auditing of cleaning services to ensure we are providing an efficient and effective service.

 

 

Portering and logistics services

Our portering services include the movement of patients, specimens and goods around healthcare premises as well as traditional logistics services of mail and receipt and distribution.

We operate courier vehicles on some contracts and even a logistics train on one contract.

 

 

 

Non emergency patient transport services

GSL is currently the largest single provider of non-emergency patient transport services and two of our contracts also include ‘blue light’ inter-hospital patient transfer.

 

 

Housekeeping

GSL provides housekeeping services to the NHS, in which our ward housekeepers are the first point of contact for ward staff for FM-related matters. These housekeepers also work to integrate the FM services at ward level such as cleaning and catering and are particularly charged with maintaining the quality of the patients’ immediate environment.

Catering

 

We are responsible for providing a range of catering services on our contracts including restaurants, cafés, vending and hospitality services.

In addition we are responsible for patient catering services at several healthcare establishments and the catering at our prisons, immigration removal centres, police custody suites and secure training centres.

Waste management

Our waste management services include looking after the collection of clinical and confidential waste as well as domestic waste. Our staff are trained in dealing with these different types of waste and in the legal requirements associated with them.

On contracts in which we are responsible for waste management, we also promote efforts to recycle as much waste as possible and work with our customers to increase the possibilities for recycling on their sites.

 

Security

GSL not only provide patrolling security services, but also is responsible for operating the technological systems such as CCTV and intruder detection systems.

We are also experienced in using monitoring systems such as Deister to register attendance at key areas.

 

Car parking

Several of our contracts include provision of car parking services, including the operation of staff permits on contracts such as hospitals.

Reception

In addition to the helpdesk services already mentioned, GSL also provides reception services, including high security visitor reception services such as at GCHQ.

Linen and laundry

 

GSL is responsible for several linen and laundry contracts as well as providing linen and laundry services for the NHS.

 

 

Fleet management

GSL operates several types of specialised fleet services managing a fleet of cars, multi purpose vehicles, vans and lorries.
